IMMORTAL COMBAT:Calumny or Detraction- Fr Corapi and SOLT

Fr. John Corapi ~ IMMORTAL COMBAT (8pts) Prt.8 Questions & Answers!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3CPvnwuYvVk

WOW! This is cool! Start at 57:30 in the video. Father tells the story of Mother Angelica's healing, (at least the part that he witnessed from his point of view. He was there when the lady prayed over her). I had never heard this story!
Now, since the subject of Fr. Corapi  is so controversial in Catholic Circles.  I feel a need to 'defend' the fact that I listen  to him   and that I have 'the gall' to share one of his videos. It seems that for many, he is anathema! In Jewish law the punishment for Mary Magdalen's sin was death....by stoning. If Father Corapi had been the person in the circle instead of Mary, then today that spot would probably mark the place of one of the tallest mountains in the world!
I think we need some catechism on the sins of calumny  and detraction. I regard the action of the leaders of SOLT as far more detrimental for people than anything that Fr may or may not have done. They felt a need to protect 'his followers'(?!?) from being led astray(how? by his public ministry?) by making a PUBLIC PRESS RELEASE for all the world to see,   a detailed list  of accusations that they felt they had proven to be true( though the canonical process for doing this was never finished). To me this press release of a detailed list of private sins(none of which involved a child) looked more like a story from  a sleazy tabloid detailing sexual improprieties  like True confessions than  a statement issued by the superior of religious order. Fr.s Public ministry of preaching TRUTH;with Clarity: has always included Solid Catholic Doctrine and a courageous proclamation of truth concerning ALL of the moral issues  facing us today! This is rare to find  in one place from one person. His public ministry  has helped many, probably millions of people. It has led people into truth. His public ministry has done an incalculable good.
Frankly, his private sins are none of our business,  SOLT's press release served NO public good. It  served to cast doubt and detract from all the good that was done through his public ministry . It has brought out so much of the negative in people. It has led MANY into sin, including some in our own EWTN family. Intentional are not, it was a malicious statement, not a protective one. Regardless of whether what it said was true or false, it was a SERIOUS sin: Calumny of Detraction , take your pick!
SO THERE!
sigh.... I am glad that I could FINALLY get that out....
