- Adherence to Schism. Meaning:
- Usually, the [Pontifical] council explained, one manifests such an attitude by holding positions contrary to the Magisterium of the Church.
- ALL
- Does "all" always mean "all?" Are there times when it means less than "all"?
- The use of many, and for all, in the bible are interchangeable.
- Allah
- Anathemas
- Apostasy,
- heresy preaching, defections, and also the other fact that we had an Ecumenical Council, gives no one the right to link these two as cause and effect. The same goes for the linking of the upheavals with the Novus Ordo.
- Apostasy, The Great
- The worldwide 'Apostacy' which St. Paul speaks of has not happened yet. Apostacy and heresy are not the same thing. Apostacy is a total renunciation of their Christina Faith by a baptized Christian. Far from the happening, in large parts of the world the Church is growing faster than ever before in history. Africa is a case in point, and so is Asia.
- Appeal From Pope
- Assisi
- Had you ever stopped to think how many of the pagans and heretics who prayed together with the Pope in Assisi MIGHT BE INVISIBLY UNITED to the Church of Christ ??
- Assistance of the faithful
- Athanasius, St: Was Lefebvre a modern-day
- This comparison falls short because the historical conditions are not analogous. Most of St. Athanasius' persecutors were themselves heretics, usurpers or intrusive emperors.
- The Marcel Lefebvre who wrote to Pope Paul VI in September 1976 of his 'unreserved allegiance to the Holy See and to the Vicar of Christ,' and in another breath describes the Pope and the Roman Curia as 'disciples of the Father of lies' and the Vatican as 'more than ever an instrument for destroying the faith' Sun Herald, 7/8/88), seems to have more in common with Martin Luther than with St Athanasius, St Hilary or St John Fisher to whom he has been likened by his supporters (L'Aurore, 15/1/76).
- ...by analogy the SSPX considers Archbishop Lefebvre a modern St. Athanasius and Pope John Paul II a modern Pope Liberius.
- Authentic interpretation
- of the Word of God, whether in its written form or in the form of Tradition, has been entrusted to the living teaching office of the Church alone
- Authority, Supreme:
- “Christ has given the supreme authority in His Church to Peter and to the Apostolic College,..." Pope Paul VI Letter to Lefebvre 1976.
- Technically, [Paul VI] did not abrogate the Roman Missal, but he did replace it by the new revised Roman Missal and derogated the use of the older Missal. Pope Paul VI possessed the same papal authority as Pope St. Pius V.
- That the Holy Father intended to replace the previously existing Liturgy, there can be no doubt whatsoever. His very words (AAS, vol. 61, 1969, p. 217-222) could not be clearer: (See AAS quote provided.)

- Buddhist, Hindu, Muslim
- --Bishop Fellay: “Okay, so be a good Buddhist, or a good Hindu, or a good Muslim, and everybody goes to heaven. Great. But if this is the new concept of the Church, then why not grant a little cage to the dinosaurs? If you already have all the birds and all kinds of animals, why not have a little place for the "fossils" which they think us to be?"
Answer: The reason is that there is a BIG and GIANT difference!! Good Buddhist are good and good Hindu are good by definition. But a BAD Catholic is BAD by definition. That is the REASON!!
- C
- Campos
- --Bishop Fellay: “That's the evolution: he has been a bishop two years and he is already concelebrating the New Mass."
Answer: The priest of Campos, the Administration with its 30 priest and 30,000 souls do not say the Novus Ordo. You lack to mention that. Also they had never said the Novus Ordo and they will not in the future.
If Bishop Rifan says the rite of Paul VI, he alone, by himself without priest, that is his right and his duty of Full Communion with the Successor of Peter (hopefully before you died you will learn what that is). Here is the reason of FULL COMMUNION: [see article]

- "Hi Sean let's cut to the chase. Here is Pope Paul VI Bull Missale Romanum In which Vatican II has there emphatic position on the Canon of the Mass.
The ICEL is responsible for the abuses of the NO Mass it is not Vatican II or Pope Paul's Mass It is a COUNTERFEIT plane and simple.
Instead of dodging Henry Omlor's treatise how about defending your so called truths, answer his objections or better yet the objections of the Doctors of the Church." etc.

- Ecône
- In May 1975 Mgr. Lefebvre was informed by Cardinals Garrone, Wright and Tabera that his utterances were unacceptable on all points. In the face of his refusal to withdraw, the commission of cardinals put an end to the "legal" existence of the seminary. (Which was on an "ad experimentum" basis. F.J.L.)
- Ecumenism
- --Bishop Fellay: “all these measures are no longer used against the Protestants, the "separated brethren." (Now they say we cannot say "separated.") Yet, churchmen declare they will have nothing to do with us. It is very interesting."
Answer: The protestants had changed a lot since Luther. At the time of Luther protestants were not members of the SOUL of the Church because they hated the Church. There are some protestant who still hate the Church, but most of the protestants don't. Today there is a big chance that good and traditional protestants are members of the Soul of the Church (united invisibly to the Church) and in way of Salvation. Again the key to understand this is again Pius IX.
- “The way and method in which the Catholic faith is expressed should never become an obstacle to dialogue with our brethren. It is, of course, essential that the doctrine should be clearly presented in its entirety. Nothing is so foreign to the spirit of ecumenism as a false irenicism, in which the purity of Catholic doctrine suffers loss and its genuine and certain meaning is clouded." (Paul VI, UNITATIS REDINTEGRATIO)
- Evangelize
- --- Pope John Paul II: "An erroneous or incomplete understanding of inculturation or ecumenism, however, must not compromise the duty to evangelize, which is an essential element of the Catholic identity. The Church … cannot fail to sense the urgency of bringing the Good News to millions who have not yet heard Christ´s saving message" (April 2002)
- Excommunications of Lefebvre and the SSPX
- -- Bishop Fellay: “Let me help you understand what "the excommunications" mean to the Society. First, I am absolutely certain that these excommunications have been a great blessing and protection of God.”
Answer: “ no one can depart from it without endangering his faith and salvation.
Of course, any person with normal intelligence knows that you and your sect ARE NOT “in the bosom and unity of the Catholic Church”.
- Also I must tell you again that your “joy” because of your Excommunication is not in accordance with the Tradition nor the LAW.
- ---“In itself this act was one of disobedience to the Roman pontiff in a very grave matter and of supreme importance for the unity of the church, such as is the ordination of bishops whereby the apostolic succession is sacramentally perpetuated. Hence such disobedience — which implies in practice the rejection of the Roman primacy — constitutes a schismatic act.
- Execrabilis of Pius II.
- Can a "Bull" be revoked, suppressed, altered?
- According to 'traditionalists'
- Bull of Sixtus V (Aeternus Ille ), was certainly NOT infallible, and WAS corrected under Gregory XIV!
- Chinese Rites - Benedict XIV's Ex quo singulari - and Pius XII
- Pius V promulgated Quod a Vobis two years after he ascended the papacy establishing the new Roman breviary with forceful language fully as strong as used in Quo Primum. It was subsequently revised by Pius X.
- Yet 34 years later (1602) Pope Clement VIII, and again 29 years later (1631) Pope Urban VII introduced new changes, and each of these two Popes ended their bulls with the same solemn declaration. And after them, Pope St Pius X and Paul VI too!
- Suppression of the Jesuits - the Bulls of the Two Popes Clement: Apostolicum pascendi and Dominus ac Redemptor Noster
- Whether a Bull of any Pope is irreformable; eg. Execrabilis, or Quo Primum of Pius V, relative to the Tridentine Mass.

- Facing the Congregation
- Our Blessed Lord faced the people of Jerusalem on His Cross on Calvary - He faced as Priest His disciples.
He also faced His accusers, His killers, what remained of His disciples, and all kinds of sinners
- Fellay, Bishop
- Roniel Aledo: Your behavior is not from God. You think you are doing “God's work” in fighting the Church, in your rebel behavior. Trust me, it does not come from God, but from the Devil. You are just adding your name to an infame long list of heretics and schismatics that the Devil has use in 2000 year to attack the Church of God.
- Fellay, Bishop Replies:
- --- Bishop Fellay: “I tell you, you do not obey the Pope when you insult us saying we are a sect. Rome never said such a thing. When Cardinal Castrillon Hoyos tells me that he has studied what we say and what we do and that we are neither heretics nor schismatics, why do you pretend to be able to pronounce a better than Rome's judgment? Who obeys?”
---Roniel Aledo: The Italian police say that you are a Sect and placed all SSPX chapels under the “sect watch” list. And if you are not a sect, then what is your “special group”?
[ ] --Cardinal Castrillon Hoyos: “To qualify as Catholic one must always, before everything, seek full communion with Peter.” (Letter to Bishop Fellay)
- ---Bishop Fellay: “The same Cardinal speaking of the Society of St Pius X said, in front of three of the bishops consecrated by Archbishop Lefebvre that the fruits of the Society are good, hence the Holy Spirit is there, why do you condemn us so easily almost to hell?”
--Roniel Aledo: I don't. The HOLY TRADITION does (and please remember that the mission of the Cardinal is just: to be “soft” with you, to bring you into the Church diplomatically. If you or your movement had occurred 500 years ago, trust me, the Holy Inquisition would have treated you in a different way. You must be thankful of the modern world!).
- ---Bishop Fellay: “When the same Cardinal tells us that the Holy Father does agree, and so Card. Ratzinger, Sodano, Medina, and himself, that the Tridentine mass has never been abrogated, why and under what title do you think you can pretend that my statement is false when I say that this mass is still in vigour? A law which is not abrogated remains in vigour, sorry for you.”
---Roniel Aledo: Your love for the Mass is not allowing you to see the truth. The Holy See has said many times that:
- ---Bishop Fellay: “Please, please the situation of the Church, our beloved Mother the Roman catholic Church is dramatic, and in part, this situation has come precisely through a wrong understanding of obedience.”
---Roniel Aledo: You are right when you say there is a Crisis in the Church. Millions of priests, faithful and even bishops have a severe lack of formation, many others commit grave abuses during the Holy Mass, and liberalism is the dangerous poison that rules the world. But you are completely wrong in your way to “fight” the Crisis: that is by creating and supporting another one!
- ---Bishop Fellay: “Or, do you need to kiss the Coran to be obedient to the Holy Father?
--Roniel Aledo: Please let me know when the Holy Father gave the order to kiss the Coran. Last year? In 1986? I haven't heard about that order.

- brochure: "Is The Society Of St Pius X Schismatic? Excommunicated? Rome Says NO. Can Anyone Go To Their Latin Masses? YES."
- Capponi, Count Neri: "St. Pius X cannot any longer claim to be acting in a state of necessity as foreseen by canon 1323, 4 ."
- Honolulu: The status of the SSPX was not an issue in this case.
- Murray, Fr. Gerald: " very strong letter to the SSPX pointing out the outright errors."
- Fr. Violette's response from the "Glossy brochure" - "Is The Society of St Pius X Schismatic "
- FLAT-EARTHisms of the SSPX
- EXAMPLES OF "TRADITIONALIST FLAT-EARTHisms"
- The Tridentine Latin Mass is "The TRUE Mass" - the Mass of Paul VI .. (the Novus Ordo) being the false Mass. (5)
- The translation of "Pro Multis" as "for all" (6) possibly invalidates the Consecration or, at least protestantized the Mass.
- "We have no relations with those who are OPENLY sedevacantist."(7)
- "We are in communion with ETERNAL Rome and the Popes!" (8)
- We support the "AUTHENTIC magisterium." Many and varied sources. (9)
- Archbishop Lefebvre did NOT sign Dignitatis Humanae and Gaudium et Spes on December 7, 1965. (10)
- We are TRADITIONAL Roman Catholics. Notice that there is always this type of qualification? (11)
- There were Protestants at Vatican II! (12)
- A lie which promotes the cause of the Traditionalist is permissible and good, and should be persevered with despite evidence to the contrary. Let me give a recent example of the latter.
- Form:
- Of the Form To Be Used In The Consecration Of The Wine
"For this is the Chalice of My Blood, of the new and eternal testament, the mystery of faith, which shall be shed for you and for many unto the remission of sins."
- Cardinal Ottaviani submitted his own judgment to the superior authority of Pope Paul. Again: Why? Because this unique scholar and true theologian knows the correct procedure: true theology and true theologians fall silent when the Holy Father officially declares what belongs to the form of a Sacrament, since there he is infallible.

- Good Works
- If you cannot quote even a single good work in support of Vatican II or the Novus Ordo, then I quote to you St. James again: Do realise, you senseless man, that faith without good works is DEAD."
- H
- Hoyos, Cardinal
- "'SSPX Not in Schism' Rome Has Spoken" announced Michael J. Matt of "The Remnant - and so echo SSPX adherents!
Ummmm, No he didn't! He DID say: "even if it was not a "FORMAL" schism"! - and he preceded that statement (which may be taken as a concession for the sake of argument) with "Unfortunately Monsignor Lefebvre went ahead with the consecration [of the four bishops, F.J.L.] and hence the situation of separation came about, even if it was not a formal schism." Note: Even the Concise Oxford Dictionary has for "Schism - Separation of a Church into two Churches or succession of part of a Church "
Thus the "Remnanters" and Company would have us believe that Cardinal Hoyos said: "hence the situation of schism came about even if there was not a schism." More at Catholic Answers

- Indefectibility of the Church
- Pope Paul gave a masterful and simple explanation of the DOGMA of the Church indefectibility that was never answered by Lefebvre or anyone in your group:
- You [Bishop Fellay] must answer to the heresy of denying the indefectibility of the Church. The Dogma of the Church tell us that a Council is free of heresy when: a. The Pope call for the Council, b. The Pope directs the meeting of the Council, c. The Pope approves the documents of the Council. All of the 3 requirements where followed during the Vatican II, and all documents such for Dogma and Moral were approved by the Pope as Pope, this is Universal Pastor and Teacher of the Universal Church; still you and your sect claim the Council was full of heresies and the Holy Ghost on “vacations” during the Council. In order to free yourself from HERESY you must explain the Dogma of Indefectibility of the Church because Lefebvre did not!
- Infallibility, Papal
- As we will see in the final Section of this paper: to give to the whole Church a revised Missal about one of the Sacraments involves papal infallibility, since it directly touches on Catholic Faith in a Sacrament. Therefore the miserable blowing-up-out-of-all-proportion of "Six Protestant Ministers taking over the Vatican to devise a 'Protestant Mass'" is such a ludicrous red herring as to become wholly malicious and mischievous.
- The first serious error of the 'Tridentiners' to be dealt with, which directly pertains to Catholic Faith, states that "the new Mass does not involve infallibility". Fr. James Wathen OSJ wrote this in his book The Great Sacrilege (TAN books, Rockford, Illinois, USA), dealing with it in a completely erroneous manner.
- and Vatican Council II
- Innovations - new rites?
- Although a change in practice, in discipline, does not automatically reflect a change in Faith and belief, nevertheless it is absolutely true that a change in Faith will eventually express itself in a change in practice.
- Pope Pius XII in Mediator Dei explained, as circumstances warrant, "public worship is organized, developed and enriched by NEW RITES, CEREMONIES, and regulations
- Insults and Imprecations
- from "Integrists", directed towards the Webmaster of this site.
- Isolation
- … The Priestly Fraternity of St Peter is viewed by the Society as traitors and enemies of the most dangerous type … Society publications frequently deal in exhaustive detail with the imagined heresies and deceit of the [FSSP]. It remains a constant thorn in their side as Society priests are always leaving to join this order and thus reconcile themselves with the Catholic Church. Each defection is accompanied by Society instructions to adherents to cut off all contact with that priest.

- Law
- Law - on the "Tridentine" Mass
- --Bisop Fellay: “It means that the law which says that the Tridentine Mass is the Catholic Mass is still in vigor. “
Answer: WRONG!!! Quo Primum is the Law that placed the Tridentine rite as the universal rite of the Latin Church, and Quo Primum was derogated by Missale Romanum of Paul VI.
The Tridentine rite was not derogated but the LAW Quo Primum was. One Law of a legislator replaces the former Law of the former legislator.
- Lefebvre, Archbishop Marcel
- Agreed "to allow one New Mass to be celebrated … " - a Mass that Fathers Violette and Peek would later describe as "intrinsically evil".
- In practice, he continued to say that he was in communion with the conciliar hierarchy and to dialogue with it, but he daily disregarded its authority.
- Literary Style: In his answer to the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, already mentioned, Mgr. Lefebvre "excuses" his statements in this way: "If in my discourses I made use of somewhat extreme expressions, allowances must be made for literary style. "Schismatic church", "heretical church" - the literary style of the prelate of Ecône is corrosive enough, but his withdrawal is quite pitiful.
- Signed "Dignitatis Humanae" (the Declaration on Religious Liberty) and Gaudium et spes - per Fr. Brian Harrison, O.S.
- To reject the New Mass Liturgy - as Archbishop Lefèbvre does - is to call into question not only the authoritative teaching of the Church, but also the work of the Holy Spirit in preserving a genuine Council of the whole Church against error and human interference.
- The Anything BUT Consistent Mind of Archbishop Lefebvre

- Limbo

Fr. Joe Horn, O. Praem. examines the "report" - with commentary:
"Here's yet another example of why The '100% Catholic' Bulletin Board is necessary to counteract Total Crap like the following 'news service' article. 'sigh' "
- "Logic" or circular argument
- Luther, The Great Heresy of Martin
- Luther's Mass
- … in regard to the new mass, Mgr. Lefebvre knows how to join deeds with words and give an example. On 30 June 1980, on the occasion of the obsequies of a member of his family, accompanied by Fr. Simoulin, he assisted "actively" at "Luther's mass" completely in the modern fashion.

- Marriages - SSPX
- "Since SSPX priests are NOT deligated by the lawful bishop or pastor of the catholic faithful they are (attemptedly) marrying, the marriages are not valid for lack of form … SSPXers will use evil trickery to try to argue around this conclusion … but their evil trickery is nothing more than evil trickery." by Jimmy Akin.
- Mass
- Is "to offer Sacrifice" the primary function of the Mass?
Not according to the Council of Trent as recorded in the 1885 "A Catholic Dictionary", by William E. Addis and Thomas Arnold, p.811 - see post in Karl Keating's Catholic Community Forum
The Council of Trent anathematized those who would deny deny those things - and THAT includes denial of those things for the Pauline Liturgy!

- Mysterium Fidei

- Necessity
- --Bishop Fellay: “We have answered that the same 1983 Code of Canon Law says that somebody may act lawfully out of a subjective necessity to consecrate bishops.”
Answer: The Supreme Legislator had already spoken about the NECESSITY:
[ … ]
The “subjective” necessity you talk about is just absurd; it is the same “subjective necessity” of Luther, the same “subjective” necessity of Calvin, exactly the same “subjective” necessity of Cromwell, the same “subjective” necessity of Henry VIII, and the same “subjective” necessity of every schismatic and heretic of history.
- Neo-protestants
- --- Michael Davies (EX -Lefebvrist) “I have been greatly saddened during the past five years to note the emergence of what I term neo-Protestants. These are men who claim to be serving the Faith, but who, to all intents and purposes, have become Protestants. The essence of Protestantism is that each Protestant is his own pope. He refuses to submit to the Magisterium, the teaching authority, of the Church founded by Our Lord, but makes his personal opinion the ultimate authority of what he will or will not believe. (Near his death in 2004)
- Novus Ordo Missae
Attacks from SSPX & other Integrists
- Blasphemy, Heresy, Illegality and Invalidity. - Des McDonald, Teacher at Holy Cross Seminary, Australia.
- Concerning the Ordo Missæ: a) A Catholic cannot cast doubt on the conformity with the doctrine of the faith of a sacramental rite promulgated by the Supreme Pastor; - Lefebvre Failed to Answer!
- Is the Novus Ordo Missae only a meal, or a memorial?
- Mgr. Camille Perl on "Father Jean Violette's letter to you of 21 January 1995 as made up of "liberals, modernists who have infiltrated the positions of authority in the Church and who are using their authority to do away with Tradition … "
- "MOST CATHOLICS who abandon the New Mass do so because they find it evil, irreverent or non-Catholic", Fr. Cekada adds a little enfleshment to that proposition, and briefly considers another "traditionalist" proposition - a proposition which has been snipped from this extract - that "Paul VI, who promulgated the New Mass, lost papal authority" - Fr. Cekada then gets into the nitty-gritty of demolishing the above "illegally promulgated" myth - and finishes with his conclusion that the post Vatican II popes are not popes at all - this has also been snipped here, but the full article is viewable at the above website.]
- "Protestant observers did not participate in the composition of the texts of the new Missal."
- To say, in this context, that the Novus Ordo was composed "with the aid of 6 non-Catholics" is so blatantly mischievous as to be wholly malicious.
- "The new order of the Mass was composed with the active cooperation of six Protestant clergymen". This is a deliberate lie, calculated to do untold damage to Catholic minds.
- Vicious Statements on the Novus Ordo Missae, Sacraments and Vatican Council II by SSPX Officials
- More Vicious Statements on the Novus Ordo Missae, Sacraments and Vatican Council II by SSPX Officials
- Violette's (Fr.) anti-Catholic verbiage, included the assertion that such "evil " (e.g. the new Mass, Vatican II novelties, new Catechism, etc.) … 'would have happened to the SSPX had the protocol of 1988 been accepted.' "
- Violette and Peek (Frs) would later describe (which Lefebvre agreed to) as "intrinsically evil".
- What about the charge of the Mass being Protestantized?
- What did the Vatican II Church officially declare about the Mass in reference to Pauline Rite Mass? in Eucharisticum Mysterium?
- Not the "real" reason
- Defenses:
- O
- Obedience:
- Obedience failure = failure as a Catholic: Pope Pius IX Quartus Supra to the Armenians, January 6, 1873
- Obedience is Dogmatic and Infallible (Dogmatic Constitution of the Church). The most important [thing] about obedience is what applies precisely to you and your Sect: “ no one can depart from it without endangering his faith and salvation.” That is the most important and critical aspect of Obedience because Salvation is not a light subject. Once you died and you have no Salvation all is lost (you must really think about where will you be in 1000 years from now!).
- There is NO misunderstanding in its concept or definition.. The DOGMA of the Church is extremely clear, again:
-- "Furthermore, in this one Church of Christ no man can be or remain who does not accept, recognize AND OBEY the authority and supremacy of Peter and his legitimate successors.” (Encyclical, Mortalium animos, January 6, 1928)
- One False Claim
- Ottaviani Intervention
- We also know that this great man submitted his own judgment to the superior authority of Pope Paul. Again: Why? Because this unique scholar and true theologian knows the correct procedure: true theology and true theologians fall silent when the Holy Father officially declares what belongs to the form of a Sacrament, since there he is infallible.
- Cardinal Ottaviani comments on the final version of the Pauline Rite Mass AFTER IT WAS OFFICIALLY PROMULGATED.
- Cardinal Ottaviani published later yet another very relevant public statement
- P
- People of God
- --Bishop Fellay: "'People of God' is a new concept which replaces the traditional concept of membership in the Church. It means broadening the borders, allowing more people in, or maybe even removing the walls so that you no longer know who is in or who is out. They destroy the borders, destroy what is clear: that is what they do.”
Answer: People of God is the Concept that describes all those that belong to the BODY of the CHURCH and those who belong to the SOUL of the Church (this is that are united invisibly to the Church).
- Perpetuity
- - does this mean "forever"?
- Wording such as "in perpetuity" must be understood "from now on, until this or another equal or greater authority determines otherwise." Pope Paul certainly held at least equal authority to that of Pope St Pius V. Therefore, changes to the Mass under his authority were licit and valid.
- Power of the Keys
- Pro multis
- Assertion that the change in the words of the Consecration of the wine renders the Consecration (i) invalid (some), or (ii) gravely doubtful (others) and so, on whatever count (iii) to be avoided at all cost (all).
- Dom Leclerq finds that there have been no fewer than 89 variations in the formulas for consecration in the history of the Church.
- "Hebrew and Aramaic words of "many" familiar to the Apostles, had a common meaning of "the all who are many" or an "undefined multitude" The bible on occasion uses all and many interchangeably"
- Is "For All" an Invalid Translation of "Pro Vobis et Pro Multis"?
- Is it true that a lie has been introduced in the very heart of Catholicism, the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, by the change of 'pro multis' in the Latin Novus Ordo to the 'for all' in the vernacular?
- No theologian holds (since it was never taught by the Church) that only the words of the Consecration as laid down by the Bull Quo Primum constitute the form of the Sacrament of the Blessed Eucharist.
- The Council of Trent recognized that the words "For you and for many" are not found in that form in the New Testament.
- The emphasis, is thus not on the extent of salvation, but on who Christ died for.
- Profession of Faith
- -Bishop Fellay: “And you give us requirements; you want us to say that we recognize the New Mass and the Second Vatican Council. We are not going to sign that.”
-Answer: You lack the humility of follow the example of great people such as Cardinal ALFREDO OTTAVIANI:
- Protestants
- Q
- Quo Primum tempore, Encyclical by Pope St Pius X
- At first glance seems to be unalterable in any way.
- A careful reading of the text shows that Pope St. Pius V never intended by Quo Primum that further revision of the Roman Missal could never be made, or that no other form of the Roman Mass, could henceforth never be said (as alleged by those against the New Mass).
- Pope St. Pius V's Mass of 1570 was a new rite of Mass
- Since they base their belief in the immutable character of Quo Primum on the very wording of the Bull, it should be sufficient to show from Tradition that Papal Bulls, using exactly the same phraseology, have been set aside by subsequent Popes, if the Bulls dealt with matters of Church discipline.
- The text of Quo Primum shows that Pius V knew it was a NEW RITE of Mass
- The whole movement is based on one thing and one thing only: their totally mistaken idea that the bull Quo Primum of Pope St. Pius V could not be set aside by Pope Paul VI. This mistake is the sole basis of the earliest origin of the whole controversy.
- "Cardinal 'X' says Quo primum wasn't abrogated."
BUT the LAW was abrogated [and the LITURGY was derogated - that is, lawfully replaced] by the Pope Paul VI's LAW "Missale Romanum"

- Bishop Fellay: “Archbishop Lefebvre said to Pope Paul VI: "We have a big problem … " Answer: This is wrong.
- Catechism of the Catholic Church #2108 & 2109 on Religious Liberty - "goes to Quanta Cura and keep their teaching alive. There is no Moral Freedom to choose a religion. It is all about a political Freedom so Communist states do not impose Anti-God teaching.
- Please Bishop and by the way, don't forget that QUANTA CURA was against MORAL religious freedom, whereas Dignitatis Humane was against POLITICAL oppression.
MORAL freedom is one THING
POLITICAL freedom is another THING.

- Sacraments of the Catholic Church
- It is true that "though the Church may change rites and ceremonies, it cannot alter the "substance" of the sacraments. See the 1885 Catholic Dictionary
- Pope Pius XII demonstrated this "Power of the Keys" in 1947 when, in Sacramentum Ordinis, he made changes and defined the Form for the Sacrament of Holy Orders.
- Sacrifice
- EVERY Mass - including the so-called "Novus Ordo Missae" is a "true and proper sacrifice." (de fide).
- If we consider the New Mass in itself, in theory or in practice, as invalid or heretical, sacrilegious, heterodox, sinful, illegitimate or not Catholic, we would have to hold the theological conclusions of this position and apply them to the Pope and the entire episcopate residing in the world - that is, the whole teaching Church: that the Church has officially promulgated, maintained for decades, and offers every day to God an illegitimate and sinful worship — a proposition condemned by the Magisterium — and that, therefore, the gates of hell have prevailed against her, which would be a heresy. Or else we would be adopting the sectarian principle that we alone are the Church, and outside of us there is no salvation, which would be another heresy. These positions cannot be accepted by a Catholic, either in theory or in practice. Bishop Fernando Rifan.
- Sacrifice Meaning
- Sacrifice of the Mass
- New Order of the Mass [is] a sacrifice of praise, thanksgiving, propitiation and satisfaction, thus affirming doctrines that Protestants specifically deny.
- The foreword to the General Instruction on the Roman Missal states:
- The substance of the Mass remains absolutely the same: there is the Offertory, the Consecration. . . And the Sovereign Pontiff has recalled expressly what was not expressed sufficiently in the rubrics of the new Ordo: that the Mass is a sacrifice. - Charles Cardinal Journet

- An SSPX adherent vents his spleen on Fr. Joe Horn's "100% CATHOLIC" Forum:
"Dear Warm and Friendly 'catholics',

- Losses or Defections include, but are NOT limited to the following examples:
- "In 1975, in one of a series of shakedowns at the Society's central Seminary in Ecône, Switzerland, a number of professors were quitting because the Society had beeb 'dissolved' by Rome … "
"In 1983, in the United States, when nine out of eleven Society priests in the Seminary … and the Northeastern District laid down to the Archbishop the terms on which they would allow the Seminary and District to operate … "
"Of the 400 priests he ordained in and for the Society, some 100 had defected before he died … "
- "In 1984 Lefebvre came to his newly reorganized North-East district and ordained four more priests. Three of them promptly took their valid ordination and placed themselves at the service of the SSPV, namely, Frs. David Ahern, Thomas Mroczka, and Denis McMahon. After that Lefebvre was a great deal more cautious as to whom he ordained."
- Fr. Paul Aulagnier was the first SSPX seminarian to be ordained on October 17, 1971. He is now reconciled with Rome in the Good Shephers Institute.
What Some of the Surviving Seminarians Said at the time of the split of the "nine"
Of the 10 seminarians, 5 were ordained within two years. Two have since left the SSPX. (Frs John Rizzo and Gregory Foley.)
Bishop Licinio Rangel and his approx. 26 priests AND some 26,000 plus lay persons reconciled with Rome, January 2002.

- A simple test: Can the SSPX or its adherents produce evidence of the inclusion of the names of Archbishop Lefebvre, Bishops Fellay, Williamson, de Galarreta, de Mallerais or Rangel 1 in the Annuario Pontificio? Or, can they produce any evidence, that in writing to the Episcopate, the Popes included or intended to include the above- named SSPX bishops among the bishops in communion with him?
